Molte delle più importanti personalità della scena politica e sociale della "Grande Mela" sono degli italoamericani, e come si desume chiaramente dal cognome, sono indubbiamente italiane anche le radici di uno degli attuali giudici della Corte Suprema dello Stato di New York Joseph Giamboi è infatti, fìglio di due emigranti italiani, Giuseppina Calogero e Nicola Giamboi, originari rispettivamente di Messina e di Giarre (provincia di Catania).
Il giudice Giamboi ricorda: "Mio padre lasciò l'Italia quando aveva diciassette anni per venire negli Stati Uniti. Divenuto cittadino americano, fu arruolato nell'esercito e durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale fu mandato a combattere al fronte. Finita la guerra, riuscì a mettere su una propria compagnia di costruzioni, mentre mia madre continuò a prendersi cura della casa e, naturalmente, di me e di mia sorella Gloria". Il giudice Giamboi è attualmente sposato con Emily Marrinelli (in Giamboi naturalmente). Il loro è stato un matrimonio felice e hanno tre fìgli: Robert, Joseph e Joy. Come nella migliore tradizione italiana, hanno avuto molti nipotini; ben sette.

Laureato alla "New York University" e alla " New York Law School" ha ricevuto, nel corso della sua lunghissima carriera professionale, innumerevoli riconoscimenti, come l' ''American from Keane Post-American Legion", il "Law Service Award", il "Distinguished Service Medal" e una menzione di merito da parte dell' ''American Arbitration Association". E' membro del "Columbian Lawyers Association, dell' "American Trial Lawyers Associartion" e del "New York Trial Lawyers Association".

Joseph Giamboi riesce a conciliare lo svolgimemo del suo oneroso ruolo istituzionale con un'opera di costante e multiforme militanza nelle varie realtà associative impegnare nell'ambito del sociale e della cultura. E', tra l'altro, membro del "Knights of Columbus", del "Veterans of Foreign Wars", dell' "American Legion", nonchè di varie istituzioni che riuniscono tutti gli italoamericani dello Stato di New York, come "American of Italian Descent", il "Sons of Italy" e l' "Italian American Coalition''.


Most of the greatest fìgures of the political and social scene of the 'Big Apple' are Italo-American and, as it can be easily deduced by the surname, rhe rootes of one of rhe contemporary judges of the Supreme Court of the State of New York are undoubtly italian. As a matter of fact, Joseph Giamboi is the son of two Italian immigrants, Giuseppina Calogero and Nicola Giamboi, who came from Messina and Giarre (Catania) respectively.
Mr. Giamboi recalls: "At age seventeen my father left Italy and came to the United States. He became an American citizen and therefore he was recruited by the Army during rhe First World War and sent to fìght to the front. At the end of the War he was able to start up a construction business while my mather kept on raking care of rhe household and of course of me and my sister Gloria." Mr. Giamboi is now married to Mrs.Emily Martinelli.Theirs is a happy marriage and they have three children: Robert, Joseph and Joy. According to the best ltalian tradition, they have had many grandchildren: a good number of seven.

He rook his degree at the New York University and the New York Law School. During his very long professional career he has received many awards, such as rhe American Award frorn the Keane Post-American Legion, the Distinguished Service Medal and honourable menrtion from the American
Arbitration Association. He is member of the Columbian Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and the New York Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Giamboi is able to conciliate his hard institutional role with a constant and varied participation to various associations which deal with social and cultural subjec. Futhermore, he is also member of the Knights of Columbus, of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, of the American Legion, and moreover of various institutions which encompass all the Italo- Americans of the State of New York, such as the American of Italian Descents, che Sons of ltaly and the ltalian American Coalition.
